Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle - April

  • Peoria Women's Club 301 Northeast Madison Avenue Peoria, IL, 61603 United States (map)

In collaboration with the Peoria Women’s Club, OLLI invites you to join the Peoria Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle. Considered the oldest continuous book club in the United States, the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle (CLSC) was founded in 1878 to “promote habits of reading and study in nature, art, science, and in secular and sacred literature.”

This is the fourth class series offered toward national CLSC graduation, but new members can start anytime. We’ve picked three of Chautauqua Institute's annual book selections, including one from Summer 2023.

The class will provide additional opportunities to view films related to this semester’s selections: Bride & Prejudice by Director Gurinder Chadha and Netflix’s 2023 mini-series All The Light We Cannot See. DC Writer & Content Strategist, Lynette Steger, will moderate each meeting.

Cost: $30

Cost includes presentations, snacks, and coffee. The fee also includes a $10 annual CLSC membership. Transportation is not provided - meet us there!
